The Heart Behind Declaration Nails
MY STORY
True Beauty is found in christ
Creating art has always been a part of who I am. But art means the most to me when it carries a message — and that’s what Declaration Nails is all about.
Fueled by my love for Jesus, beauty, and creativity, this brand was born out of the way He restored my view of self-worth. For years, I wrestled with self-image and feelings of unworthiness. Only recently did God reveal that true beauty isn’t found in perfection, but in reflecting Him.
the struggle
Between ages 10 and 20, I carried a lot of pain. Family struggles turned into isolation, which grew into depression and anxiety. I often avoided mirrors because I couldn’t stand my reflection — I hated my face, my body, myself.
Art was one of the few things that kept me afloat, along with friends who tried to love me like Jesus — though I resisted it. Their kindness planted small seeds of hope I wouldn’t recognize until years later.
the shift
I grew up in the Catholic Church, but faith felt like routine — something I did on Sundays, not something that changed me. I called myself a Christian, yet lived far from Christ. I said sin was bad, but embraced it anyway.
I tried to fix my emptiness through skincare and makeup, hoping it would make me feel beautiful, but it never lasted. The mirror always told me I wasn’t enough. I compared myself to women online and felt more broken than before.
That hopelessness followed me… until I went to university.
the calling
Looking back, I can see God’s hand guiding me the whole time — closing doors that led me deeper into sin, softening my heart, and preparing me for the truth. Within my first month at university, I finally heard the gospel in a way that made sense.
I realized I had called myself a Christian without ever knowing Jesus personally — who He is, what He did for me, and how deeply He loves me.
Knowing Jesus changed everything. He loves me. He died for me. And He made me in His image. That truth healed what nothing else could.
Now, when I look in the mirror, I just see… me. Not broken, not unworthy — but redeemed.
Today, I see beauty differently. Makeup, art, and fashion are no longer bandages — they’re expressions of creativity from the One who designed us all.
God made beauty, but the world often twists it into vanity. I want to reclaim it for His glory. This verse is my reminder:
“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature… For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’”
1 Samuel 16:7
Declaration Nails was born out of that truth — to create beauty that points toward God, not self. My hope is to join women together to celebrate creativity that glorifies Him and reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
